WHAT TO EXPECT

Itinerary
  • Bath to Castle Combe – transfer time 30 mins

Visit Castle Combe
Castle Combe is surely one of the most photographed villages in all of England. Often described as the prettiest village in England. The village sits in the Costwolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in North West Wiltshire and has featured regularly as a Motion Picture Filming Location. It was used in the original 1967 Dr. Doolittle Film and the 2011 Stephen Spielberg’s Warhorse was almost exclusively filmed here.
  • Castle Combe to Sandy Lane – transfer time 30 mins

Visit Sandy Lane
This idyllic thatched cottage village used to house workers from the nearby Bowood Estate and once boasted 3 inns as it was on the main highway route from London to Bath. Many of the Tudor style cottages have maintained their original thatched roofs and there is also a wooden thatched chapel which is unusual in its design.
  • Sandy Lane to Lacock – transfer time 15 mins

Visit Lacock
According to the National Trust, Lacock is a quintessential 15th century English Village and little has changed here for 500 years. The village is owned almost in its entirety by the National Trust to ensure it’s preservation for the Nation. The streets are lined with Timber framed houses, shops and cafes. The Lacock Estate was home to photography pioneer Henry Fox Talbot from 1800-1877, we recommend a visit to the 13th Century Lacock Abbey and gardens and photography museum. Walking the village presents many photo opportunities. Lacock Abbey has been used as a filming location for many Motion Picture Films, most recently for the Harry Potter Franchise. It’s also worth noting that Queen Consort Camilla also has a private residence within Lacock called Ray Mill House.
  • Lacock to Corsham – transfer time 15 minutes

Visit Corsham
Corsham High Street contains many Cotswold Stone buildings and is well worth a look, Corsham Court at the north end of the high street and is worth visiting and has been used as a Motion Picture filming location on many occasions, including Jane Austen’s Northanger Abbey film, its privately owned but the art collection is renowned and worth the entry price to view. The Methuen Arms Public House is aways welcoming and has through the ages been visited by Royalty and famous stars of stage and screen.
  • Corsham to Bradford on Avon – transfer time 30 minutes

Visit Bradford on Avon
Bradford on Avon lies a the southern most point of the Cotswolds and owes a great deal to the wool and weaving trade. The impressve 14th Century Tithe Barn is very well preserved, and will connect you to a time when the Church was the largest landowner in England, your guide can lead you and explain the various ages and influences and changes that have sculpted the town you see today.
  • Bradford on Avon to Bath – transfer time 20 minutes

At the end of the day, you will be dropped off at your hotel, at the station, or agreed location in Bath.

Approximate arrival time back to Bath is 6pm. Reach out to discuss if you have any queries regarding our South Cotswold Full Day Tours.
